CFB Game of the Week: Week 4 Results

Posted by Russ Looney

College Football Game of the Week banner

Another weekend of college football has come and gone.  Some teams that were expected to win did so in dominant fashion (hello, #2 Ohio State–73 points!), while others took an unexpected loss (Texas, you broke my heart…).  Other favored teams won after struggling a bit, including TCU, Boise State, and #1 Alabama, who had an impressive come-from-behind victory over Arkansas. As for our featured matchup of the South Carolina Gamecocks vs the Auburn Tigers, the Tigers emerged victorious after overcoming a double digit deficit at the half.  South Carolina turned the ball over 4 times (!) in the fourth quarter to help give the Auburn Tigers a 35-27 win.  The Auburn quarterback Cameron Newton also played well, rushing for 176 yards and 3 touchdowns while also passing for 2 TDs.  On the other hand, South Carolina star running back Marcus Lattimore was held to only 33 yards on 14 carries.  You can find a full recap here. As a result of the game, we’re offering Zoo Tycoon: Complete (Mac) for HALF OFF!  This game comes with the original Zoo Tycoon as well as two expansion packs, Marine Mania and Dinosaur Digs.  In addition, shipping will be reduced by HALF as well!  Just add the game to your shopping cart and use the coupon code #Auburn at checkout.  This deal is good through the end of the day (11:59pm CDT) Wednesday, September 29. Keep up to date with the NonBlog to find out what teams, games, and discounts will be featured in our next College Football Game of the Week!

CFB Game of the Week: The Tycoon Battle Royale

Posted by Russ Looney

College Football Game of the Week feature banner

Welcome back, college football fans, to another exciting entry of our College Football Game of the WeekLast week we featured the matchup between the Arkansas Razorbacks and the Georgia Bulldogs.  The Razorbacks triumphed in Athens, GA, to bring you QUAKE 4 at a specially discounted price.  This week there are multiple high-profile games which could be featured.  Perhaps the most exciting matchup involves the (now) #10 Arkansas Razorbacks again as they face off against the #1 Alabama Crimson Tide in Fayetteville, AR.  The Tide is looking to repeat as national champions this year and now have Heisman-winner Mark Ingram back in the lineup to help them reach that goal. Later in the evening and on the other side of the country, fans will get to see the #3 Boise State Broncos back in action as they try once again to prove their worth as national title contenders when they face the #24 Oregon State Beavers on their (blue turf!) home field.  The Broncos had seemed to answer everybody’s questions after defeating the Virginia Tech Hokies in week 1 (featured in our very first CFB Game of the Week), but when the Hokies lost again the next week to the unranked FCS team James Madison Dukes, the questions of the Broncos’ legitimacy came storming back.  Now they’ll have a national audience to once again make a statement.  So, what matchup are we actually featuring in this week’s CFB Game of the Week?  Keep reading to find out…

The Discounts

To keep with the Wall Street and Tycoon theme going (we’ve already blogged about it here), we’re pitting our two Tycoon games against one another in an epic, winner-takes-all battle royale!  In one corner will be RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 (Mac) and its waterpark-themed expansion, RollerCoaster Tycoon 3: Soaked (Mac).  In the opposite corner will be the heavy-weight Zoo Tycoon: Complete (Mac), which includes the original Zoo Tycoon plus the two expansions, Marine Mania and Dinosaur Digs!
  • If the team representing RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 and RCT3: Soaked wins, then you’ll find each of these titles for HALF OFF!  Furthermore, shipping will also be discounted by HALF!
  • If the team representing Zoo Tycoon: Complete wins, then you’ll find this title for HALF PRICE!  Similarly, the shipping will also be discounted by HALF!
These deals will go into effect Monday morning, September 27.

The Football Game

This week we’re featuring another SEC matchup as the #12 South Carolina Gamecocks travel to Auburn, AL, to face off against the #17 Auburn Tigers.  Despite looking shaky against FCS team Furman last week, the Gamecocks have looked pretty good overall, especially behind tailback Marcus Lattimore who’s averaging 4.8 yards per carry.  Auburn, on the other hand, had a crazy, down-to-the-wire victory against Clemson last week.  Clemson jumped out to an early lead, but the Tigers clawed their way back into the game and won in overtime.  Now it’s anybody’s guess which of these teams will emerge victorious on Saturday.
  • If the South Caroline Gamecocks win, then the RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 deal will go into effect.
  • If the Auburn Tigers win, then the Zoo Tycoon: Complete deal will go into effect.
You can catch a full preview of the game here.  Kickoff is at 7:45pm ET on ESPN/ESPN3. For those of you new to the feature, each week we will feature a marquee match-up between two college football teams.  Each team will represent a specific game or set of games available at GameAgent.com and an associated discount for those games.  The game discount(s) associated with the winning team will then go into effect the following Monday or Tuesday after the game and last for 3 days.  In order to get the discounts, you must use the specific coupon code that is generated once the winner is decided!  Finally, commenting on the blog or our Facebook page about the marque match-up, your favorite team, or football in general is highly encouraged–participants may get special benefits!

Tycoon Bundle Mac boxshotFor this weekend only, you’ll be able to pick up our brand new Tycoon Bundle for only $40!  The bundle includes RollerCoaster Tycoon 3, RollerCoaster Tycoon 3: Soaked!, and Zoo Tycoon: Complete.  The bundle itself would normally go for $69.98 (while buying each game individually would run you $10 more), but we’re feeling extra generous this weekend.  In addition, you’ll get FREE SHIPPING on the Tycoon Bundle. We’re not done, yet, though.  Keep an eye out over the next week as we start rolling out bundles for all of your favorite Mac and PC games!  Each bundle will save you at least $10 over buying the games individually.  We’ve got one for Civilization in the works, as well as a Star Wars bundle, Call of Duty bundle, Sims 2 bundle, and an id pack (rocking Doom 3, QUAKE 4, and Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars).  Have an idea for a bundled pack?  Let us know and we’ll feature it in an upcoming promotion–we’ll even let you name the bundle!

CFB Game of the Week: Week 3 Results

College Football Game of the Week banner

What another exciting week of college football.  While upsets in the Top 25 were limited, there were more than a handful of close calls!  Oklahoma struggled at home against Air Force, Wisconsin barely escaped with a victory over Arizona State (on a missed PAT!), and Michigan, now back in the Top 25, had a significant scare facing Massachusetts.  Anybody stay up to watch the Arizona-Iowa game?  After being down practically the whole time, Iowa made a significant comeback late in the game.  Unfortunately for the Hawkeyes, the sea of red that was Arizona’s stadium was too much, and the Wildcats emerged victorious. As for our official Game of the Week, well, what a game!  #12 Arkansas faced Georgia in Athens and came away with the Razorbacks’ first significant road win in some time (Arkansas had lost their last 7 road games).  Arkansas quarterback Ryan Mallett looked Heisman-worthy as he shredded the Dawgs’ defense for 380 yards and 3 touchdowns.  Arkansas jumped out to an early lead that it kept for most of the game until Georgia came storming back late to tie things up in the 4th quarter.  Then, with under 30 seconds left in the game, Mallett threw a brilliant pass to receiver Greg Childs who ran it in for the game-winning touchdown.  You can find a full recap here. So, what does that mean?  It means GameAgent customers will be getting QUAKE 4 (Mac) for half off–that’s only $10!  In addition, shipping for the title has been discounted 75%!  All you have to do is add QUAKE 4 to your cart and then use the coupon code “#Razorbacks”!  This deal is good through 11:59pm CDT, Wednesday, September 22. Stay tuned for our next College Football Game of the Week, and let us know what you think of the feature!

CFB Game of the Week: The QUAKEning

Posted by Russ Looney

College Football Game of the Week banner on GameAgent NonBlog

Another week, another game, another discount–it’s time once again for the College Football Game of the Week!  Last week we featured the match-up between the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Miami (FL) Hurricanes.  The Buckeyes ended up winning at home and enabling a discount for HALF OFF the classic Star Wars RPG Knights of the Old Republic (Mac).  So what games are up for grabs this week?

The Discounts

This week we’re featuring a pair of id shooters that will have you quaking in your boots!  (Apologies for the pun–I couldn’t resist.)  That’s right–we’re pitting QUAKE 4 (Mac) against Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars (Mac)!
  • If the team representing QUAKE 4 (Mac) wins, then QUAKE 4 will go on discount for HALF OFF!  In addition, shipping charges will be reduced by 75%!
  • If the team representing Enemy Territories: QUAKE Wars (Mac) wins, then QUAKE Wars will, similar to QUAKE 4, go on discount for HALF OFF!  The shipping discount will also apply!

The Football Game

So what’s the game to watch?  How about the #12 Arkansas Razorbacks vs the Georgia Bulldogs!  The Razorbacks have lost their last six games against Georgia, and this game won’t be any easier as they’ll be playing “between the hedges” in Athens, GA.  Georgia will be looking to bounce back after a tough loss to South Carolina last week and will do everything they can to take full advantage of their home field.  However, Arkansas has looked great in its first two outings this season behind star quarterback Ryan Mallet.  Will the Hogs be able to steal one from the Bulldogs?  We’ll find out Saturday!  The game airs at 12pm ET on ESPN/ESPN3.  You can find a game preview here.
  • If the Arkansas Razorbacks win, then QUAKE 4 (Mac) will go on sale for HALF OFF starting Monday, September 20.
  • Conversely, if the Georgia Bulldogs win, then Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars (Mac) will go on sale for HALF OFF starting Monday, September 20.

CFB Game of the Week: Week 2 Results

Posted by Russ Looney
College Football Game of the Week feature banner It was a fantastic weekend for college football.  Most teams that were expected to win did, though there were definitely a handful of upsets.  Kansas bounced back after an embarrassing opening weekend loss to defeat the #15-ranked Georgia Tech Yellowjackets.  In addition, Virginia Tech lost again, this time to a team that practically everyone around country considered inferior.  It should be interesting to see how the loss affects the team that beat Virginia Tech in our opening CFB Game of the Week, Boise State! Of course, the important game for GameAgent fans this weekend was the Ohio State-Miami (FL) match-up.  The game was played in Columbus, OH, giving the Buckeyes home field advantage.  Whether they needed it or not is debatable, as the Ohio State Buckeyes beat the Miami (FL) Hurricanes 36-24.  The Buckeyes’ quarterback Terrelle Pryor looked great, scoring 2 touchdowns, while the Hurricanes’ quarterback Jacory Harris finished the game with 4 interceptions.  You can find a full game recap here. So, what does all this mean?  It means that Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (Mac) goes on sale at GameAgent.com for HALF OFF!  Between now and the end of the day (11:59pm CDT) Wednesday, September 15, you can get either the boxed or digital version of the game for only $15.  In addition, adding either version to your cart will take $5 off the cost of shipping for the entire order!  In order to get the game and shipping discounts, add the item(s) to your cart, and then put in the coupon code “#tOSUBuckeyes” at checkout. Remember to check back later this week to see what our next Game of the Week will be and what games and discounts will be at stake!

CFB Game of the Week: Knights of the Old Empire at War

Posted by Russ Looney

College Football Game of the Week banner

Welcome back, college football fans!  We hope Week 1 was as exciting for you as it was for us, but more importantly, we hope you enjoyed the discounts that came with it!  After an exciting Week 1 that saw the Boise State Broncos send Sid Meier’s Civilization IV Gold (Mac) and the Civ IV expansions into discount land, we’re ready to launch Week 2 of our College Football Game of the Week!

For those of you new to the feature, each week we will feature a marquee match-up between two college football teams.  Each team will represent a specific game or set of games available at GameAgent.com and an associated discount for those games.  The game discount(s) associated with the winning team will then go into effect the following Monday or Tuesday after the game and last for 3days.  In order to get the discounts, you must use the specific coupon code that is generated once the winner is decided!  Finally, commenting on the blog or our Facebook page about the marque match-up, your favorite team, or football in general is highly encouraged–participants may get special benefits!

The Discounts

This week we’re pitting two major Star Wars titles against one another.  On one side we’ve got the classic RPG Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (Mac), and on the other we’ve got the amazing RTS Star Wars: Empire at War (Mac)!  The potential discounts are as follows:

  • If the team representing Knights of the Old Republic (Mac) wins, then you’ll see both the digital and boxed versions of KOTOR discounted by HALF!  In addition, ordering either will take $5 off the cost of shipping* for your entire order!
  • If the team representing Empire at War (Mac) wins, then, similar to the KOTOR deal, you’ll see both the digital and boxed versions of Empire at War discounted by HALF!  Also like the KOTOR deal, ordering either version will take $5 off the cost of shipping* for your entire order!

The Football Game

This week we’re featuring a revenge bout between the #2-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes and the #12-ranked Miami (FL) Hurricanes.  The last time these two football giants met was the 2003 Fiesta Bowl, where the Buckeyes upset the then-ranked #1 Hurricanes in double-overtime to win the National Championship.  The winner of this year’s game will be taking a huge step forwards to get back to the Fiesta Bowl for another shot at the national title.

  • If the Ohio State Buckeyes win, then the Knights of the Old Republic deal will go into effect on Monday, September 13.
  • If the Miami (FL) Hurricanes win, then the Empire at War deal will go into effect on Monday, September 13.

The game is currently scheduled to kick off at 3:40pm ET on ESPN/ESPN3.  Who will you be rooting for?

*Customers are NOT required to pay shipping for the digital versions of our games.  The shipping discount associated with the digital versions of either Knights of the Old Republic or Empire at War will only go into effect if you add a boxed item to your cart!

CFB Game of the Week: Week 1 Results

Posted by Russ Looney

College Football Game of the Week banner

It was a gutty performance in a game that will surely generate tons of discussion in the world of NCAA football over the next days (if not the next weeks or months), but in our first ever College Football Game of the Week, the Boise State Broncos defeated the Virginia Tech Hokies 33-30.  Boise State jumped out to an early 17-0 lead in the first quarter off of Virginia Tech turnovers and mistakes, though the Hokies fought back to take the lead, 27-26, going into the final quarter of the game.  Virginia Tech added a field goal in the fourth to make it 30-26, but Boise State struck back with a touchdown with just over a minute in left in the game to take the final lead of the game, 33-30. Catch a recap of the match-up here.

Since Boise State won, our first discount will be for the Sid Meier’s Civilization Gold (Mac) box and the Civilization expansion boxes, including Civilization: Beyond the Sword (Mac), Civilization: Warlords (Mac), and Civilization: Colonization (Mac).  Between now and end of day (11:59pm CDT) Thursday, September 9, all featured titles will be 25% OFF.  In addition, shipping on each title will be HALF OFF, unless you purchase at least 2 of the featured products, at which point shipping will be FREE!

In order to get the discounts, you must use the following coupon code when prompted: #BoiseState

Stay tuned for our next CFB Game of the Week announcement!  And in the meantime, let us know your thoughts on the game on our new feature!
