• Another successful Indie game, Closure, is coming to Steam for Mac.
•  Square-Enix’s ‘The World Ends With You: Solo Remix’ is now available for iOS.
• With a heavy heart we report that the majority of awesome game development studio Freeverse have been given the axe.
• First-person horror game ‘Anna’ creeps onto the Mac September 21.

Apple News

• In case you hadn’t heard, Apple won its patent case against Samsung. Some say things will change forever, while others think Apple worked a broken patent system. 
• Internationally, in Japan Apple lost to Samsung and in South Korea they were BOTH found to be partially guilty.
• Apple and publishers make concessions in an ongoing antitrust case involving iBooks.
• Despite worldwide court disputes, Samsung is working hard to maintain their components relationship with Apple intact.
• Help from Apple’s Geniuses is now available online.
• Apple Stores are running low on 27-inch iMacs. Rumor has it this means a refresh is on the horizon.
• Looks like there’s new malware out there targeting Macs and stealing passwords. Be careful out there.
• Apple rejected an app that tracked American drone strikes in Pakistan.
• Apple also rejected politically charged Angry Birds-like game Angry Election this week.
• Always wished you could use your iPad like a typewriter? Now there’s a ridiculous (but awesome) accessory for that.

We love to get excited about huge AAA titles, treating each bit of news like a revelation and counting down the days until launch. However, as we talked about last week, there are plenty of great games out there that don’t make headlines and get feature articles written about them. • The Defense rests. The Apple v. Samsung case is now in the hands of a jury.
• Apple will now appeal the Kodak patent ruling.
• In even more litigious news, Apple is being sued by an ex-worker that says Steve Jobs personally promised him a lifetime job.
• Looks like conditions for the Apple supplier Foxconn in China are thankfully improving.
• An update to Mountain Lion (10.8.1) was released yesterday. It fixes a number of bugs. 
• Apple pulled all the controversial “Genius ads” from their homepage and YouTube.
• Apple held 69% of the tablet market last quarter. 
• There have reportedly been 300 million visitors to the Apple store since last October.
• Sick of the painfully slow Facebook iOS App? The latest update is supposed to be faster than ever.

There are plenty of huge franchises out there like Call of Duty, Madden and Halo that get all of the spotlight, fooling some gamers into believing that’s all there is to the wonderful world of gaming. But those in the know, those that search for something a little less corporate, they know there’s a blossoming world of indie game development across all platforms. These games usually provide an experience focused not on cutting-edge graphics, but on fun and unique gameplay experiences.

One of the greatest things about most indie developers is that most of them are platform agnostic. That means no allegiances to support that leave sectors of gamers out in the cold. More and more of these indie games are far quicker to bring their game to the Mac than many big time companies. The only problem is with a small operation there’s not much money in the way of marketing, so they rely heavily on word of mouth to let people know about their titles. We here at GameAgent want to do our part get the word out on some great games that haven’t gotten as much attention as they deserve. We take a look at some great indie games with a eye towards what lies on the horizon.
