The latest expansion to Civilization V, Brave New World, is set to launch on the Mac in North America on July 9, and everywhere else on July 12. The expansion brings tons of new content and ways to play an already massively open-ended game. Q: What is Civilization V: Brave New World?

Sid Meier’s Civilization V: Brave New World is the second expansion pack for Civilization V – the critically acclaimed 2010 PC Game of the Year. This new expansion provides enhanced depth and replayability through the introduction of international trade and a focus on culture and diplomacy. Your influence around the world will be impacted by creating Great Works, choosing an ideology for your people and proposing global resolutions in the World Congress. As you move through the ages of history you will make critical decisions that will impact your relationship with other civilizations.

Q: When will Brave New World be available on the Mac?
Brave New World is set to launch on the Mac on the same day as the PC version. The North American launch date is July 9, and the international release date is July 12.
Q: Will Brave New World be available through the Mac App Store?
Yes! ALL users that play Civilization V: Campaign Edition from the Mac App Store will be able to purchase Brave New World as an in-app purchase starting July 9, regardless of their location. Users must first install an available update to their copy of Civilization V: Campaign Edition through the Mac App Store. (*Please note that you must have OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion or later installed to make in-app purchases.)
Q: How much does Brave New World cost? Where can I purchase it?
Brave New World retails for $29.99/ €29.99/ £19.99, and it is currently available for purchase/pre-order from the GameAgent Store, Steam, and other participating online retailers. It will be available as an in-app purchase through Civilization V: Campaign Edition on the Mac App Store on launch day (pre-orders are not available for the Mac App Store version).
Those interested in pre-ordering the expansion will save 10% up front.

Q: Does Brave New World support Steam Play?
Yes! Like all Civilization V content, Brave New World is Steam Play-supported, meaning owning the expansion on the Mac will get you the PC version for free (and vice versa).
Please note that Steam Play support is for the Steam version of Civilization V and Brave New World only. This feature does not extend to any content purchased through the Mac App Store.
