Fan-favorite Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy is getting a digital re-release this week! The game’s been updated for distribution through both Steam and the Mac App Store, but you may still have some questions about the game. Our advice? Check out the FAQ below! If you still have questions, leave a comment, and we’ll do our best to answer!

Q: When will Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy for Mac be available to download?

Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy for Mac will be available to download on the Mac starting Thursday, January 31, for $9.99. The game is currently available for pre-order from now live on the GameAgent Store.

Q: Where can I purchase the digital version of Jedi Academy for Mac?

Jedi Academy for Mac can be purchased at a variety of digital retailers, including our own GameAgent Store, the Steam Store, and the Mac App Store.

Q: So Jedi Academy’s on Steam… Does the game support Steam Play?

Yes! Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy is a Steam Play title, meaning that purchasing the game on the Mac will get you the game free on the PC, and vice versa!

Please note that Steam Play only affects the non-Mac App version.

Q: Are there any differences between the Mac App version and non-Mac App version?

There are no differences between builds for Jedi Academy.

Q: What updates, if any, have been made to the digital re-release of Jedi Academy for Mac?

Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy has been updated to run on the newest OSX operating systems and Apple hardware.

Q: I already purchased the box version of Jedi Academy. Can I download the digital version for free?

Unfortunately, there’s no way to transfer the license from a purchased box copy to a digital download copy. All users will need to (re-)purchase the digital version of Jedi Academy for Mac to play the digital version.

Q: What languages does Jedi Academy for Mac support?

  • English
  • French
  • German
  • Spanish

Q: What’s the story on Jedi Academy multiplayer? Can my copy from _____ play with people on ______?

Jedi Academy is completely cross-platform. Mac App Store copies can play with Steam copies! Steam players on PC AND Mac can play together! You can even play against people on Linux! Everybody can play with anybody. It’s a multiplayer free for all. Have fun.

Q: That’s great news, but I can’t join any multiplayer servers! What’s the deal?

Via Aspyr Support, almost all available MP servers available are modded.

When you try to join a MP server that is modded and you do not have the required mods, you will receive an error indicating that you are missing files. Most of these modded servers have auto downloads turned off for people joining. Be sure to “allow downloads” in MP options to be able to get files when available from the host server.

If you’re still having trouble, please contact Aspyr Support for assistance.

Q: The graphics in the game look super huge and oversized. How do I fix this?

Via Aspyr Support, this appears to only be happening on Retina MacBook Pros.

If you have this issue, you will need to turn off  ”automatic graphics switching” under energy saver settings. When you disable automatic graphic switching, it will use ONLY the Nvidia GeForce 650 and not the Intel HD 4000. Having AGS switched on will result in your MacBook Pro switching to the Intel HD 4000 causing the issue you are describing.

If you still have issues please create a support ticket with Aspyr Support for assistance.

Q: I have a question or a problem not listed here!

If you have additional questions about the gameplay or purchase information, leave a comment below and we’ll respond as quickly as possible.

If you’re having any technical difficulties, please visit the Jedi Academy Support Page for additional information and to open a support ticket with Aspyr Support so that you can be properly assisted!

Great. I’ve been eagerly waiting for this game. Will pick it up soon!!

  • Jon

What about multiplayer? Will that be available cross platform? or mac to mac? or any at all?

    • matulaj

Good question Jon! Multiplayer is cross platform in every way possible. We’ve updated the FAQ to reflect this important info.

  • Nik

How do you install mods for jedi knight? (for example, movie battles)

    • Zee

Yes, creating a Mod folder in the package contents or adding the folder to base? Losing mods was one of the biggest disappointments when I updated to Lion. Forcemod_III, JA+. I still have my maps/configs, just need to know where to drop the files in the package or app support folder…..

      • matulaj

Depends. Which version are you and Nik referring to: the Mac App Store version or the Steam version. They’re stored in different places on your hard drive depending on which one you have.
