I have a suggestion for a new entry:

Why should I buy a game being defined “embarrassingly bad” by game critics everywhere? And why buy it for MacOS X, where performance is worse and price is higher than on Windows?

    • Jim

The critics are wrong.  I purchased the game for PC when it came out even though I had read that it was real bad.  Well, I have been playing it and I am really liking it … it is The Duke after all.  It is rude and nasty as the Duke is meant to be.  There are lots of puzzles to solve and lots of shooter action and lots and lots of one liners to laugh at.  It’s not Crysis or Far Cry or Oblivion…. it’s the Duke and even though the critics blasted it I think it’s a good game and worth the money I paid.  The critics are not always right.

You forgot “Am I gay?”  with “Yes.”

so it seems like this blog is not moderated at all… freedom of speech or just don’t giving a fuck?
anyway by your reply I can see you are the kind of person that could really enjoy a mediocre game with mediocre humor on a mediocre performing platform (speaking of game performance of course).
I could guess you were from southern USA even without looking at your twitter…

I’d have to agree with Jim.  I only play FP Shooters, and while I was nervous about purchasing the game because of the poor reviews, I found it to be an incredibly fun and challengine game.  The graphics could be better, but the roughness actually adds to the overall feel of the game.  Critics were wrong on this one.

Is duke’s package bigger in the Mac or the PC version?

Finally! I’m glad to have purchased the Balls of Steel edition for PC – now I won’t have to pay anything extra for Mac and I’ll get to play the game sooner. And yes, I did buy Balls of Steel without actually having a PC. I didn’t care if it would be awhile since I would be able to play it. I’m a huge fan of Duke3d and the money just didn’t matter.
