I hope you stocked up on food and snacks because Diablo 3 is here and I’ll bet you won’t be leaving your computer any time soon.

After 12 long years since Diablo 2′s release date, we’re finally graced with its sequel. Armed with a new graphics engine that looks phenomenal and loads of new features like the “auction house system” and individual loot system to prevent having to fight over weapons drops, I’m just counting down the minutes until I can jump into my own adventure and save Sanctuary and listen to Deckard Cain ramble on. Granted, if he is still alive after that opening cinematic.

The launch has been so far pretty painless for most with a few technical hiccups due to its online only feature talked about in this Forbes article. No worries though as Blizzard is on this.

If you’re unable to login to the game or create characters, please wait and try again. We’ve temporarily taken our Battle.net websites offline and launched more servers to accommodate for the traffic. We hope to resolve these issues as soon as possible and appreciate your patience.

However, what blows my mind even more is that someone has already beaten Diablo 3. Mentioned here in this article by cinemablend.com:

NeoGAF user Yoshichan managed to knock out the campaign in 12 hours and 29 minutes. His character, a Barbarian, was level 32 by the time he finished. He killed over 8,300 enemies in the process.

The campaign length is about on par with Diablo 2′s campaign length which is good but bear in mind that’s only if you’re going for a speedrun. I remember spending countless hours in this game with my buddies just messing around and taking it leisurely.

Sufficed to say, I can’t wait till i can grab my Macbook and start hacking my way through demons in Diablo 3 with the old gang again.

• Tomb Raider Underworld is being brought to the Mac by Feral Interactive on May 31st. More Lara Croft goodness! Who can say no?!
• You may be seeing a Google Android version of the Apple Game Center in the coming days.
• The Mighty Mouse sometimes just doesn’t cut it for gaming. Time to get a sexy, customizable, gaming mouse.
• In the mood for some vampire action that isn’t so glittery like Twilight? Dark Legends, a vampire MMO was just released on iOS earlier this week and might be work a look.
• Another review for an iOS game called Hero Academy. This game’s multiplayer was toted as Words with Friends but for hardcore gamers. I’m not sure they know what they are talking about.
• Reviews, reviews, reviews all around for The Walking Dead Episode One! These reviews may help you out in deciding whether or not to buy this episodic series.

• In the prolonged legal battle with Proview over the iPad trademark, Apple scores a victory but will they win the war?
• Apple jumps to the 17th spot in Fortune 500′s ranking of America’s largest companies by revenue.
• Apple’s online store satisfaction score is the highest of any computer-related company.
• Still in the market for a Macbook Air? It may be beneficial for you to wait just a bit longer because it’s rumored that Apple will be releasing a $799 Macbook Air in the 3rd quarter of 2012.

Lara Croft is going to be once again gracing us with her presence on the Mac with her bodacious body.  Feral Interactive announced today that they will be bringing Tomb Raider: Underworld to the Mac platform on Thursday, May 31st, 2012.

Tomb Raider: Underworld is a direct sequel to Tomb Raider: Legends and is the eighth installment of the Tomb Raider series. It was developed by Crystal Dynamics and Nixxes for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC and it was published by Eidos Interactive.

For the Mac, it is going to be published under the Feral Legends label.

Grab your guns, grapple and passport because gaming’s most fearless action heroine is about to embark on another daring expedition to the Mac.

Tomb Raider: Underworld takes Lara Croft on her darkest adventure yet. From the crystalline waters of coastal Thailand to the rain-lashed jungles of Mexico and on to a mysterious sunken city deep beneath the Arctic sea, Lara won’t stop until she has opened the gates to the Underworld.

Tomb Raider: Underworld will available on May 31st. To discover more about the story and Lara’s new moves and gadgets, grab a vine and swing over to the Tomb Raider: Underworld minisite. Just don’t look down.

Final Say:

The game is not without its flaws. A slightly rushed set of ending sequences, the contradictory boss fights and some other minor quibbles are there, but they rarely get in the way of enjoying this game. The scope of content is massive and it’s consistently fun, engaging and surprising. The focus on choice and diversity invites you to play it more than once. It’s an immersive experience that only gets richer with each play-through and I cannot recommend it highly enough. Do not miss this game.

Pros:

• Amazingly detailed and immersive game world

• Many options and choices give high replayability

• Rich story and varied side-quests

• Outstanding musical score

• Great extra content and Missing Link expansion

Cons:

• Occasionally bad AI

• Forced boss fights

• Rushed endings

Pretty Darn Good

Enjoyable game, I recommend it.

As a big fan of the original Deus Ex on the Macintosh, I purchased this game as soon as it was available. The following is as of a few days playing on a 2009 iMac (3 GHz core 2 duo, ATI Radeon HD 4270 (256 MB)).

- Great atmosphere. I love sneaking around, isolating a guard, and taking him out.

- Performace is acceptable. I left the resolution and other settings at their defaults but turned off shadows. No problems as some others have reported, but not 1920×1080 either.

- No problems with the mouse or the download time.

- The tutorials are not interactive, it appears the first level with the attack on the lab is really the tutorial and what’s labeled as the tutorial is really the game manual. The game manual is accessible from the initial Mac screen (the one where you set all of the options at first start up).

- Too many splash screens – six! Who gives a f*ck what library you used to get stereo sound.

- The character models are OK, the faces are great but the body proportions are off (hands too big, heads too small).

Deus Ex

I’m running a 2009 MacBook Pro and had to basically set all graphic settings to their lowest to run the game smoothly. My system is well above the minimum req’s, so I am somewhat disappointed. If you have a new machine I’d recommend this game. It looks like it’d run beautifully given the right settings.

! ! UPDATE: Be warned, the update (v1.0.1) is over 16GB’s.

I missed you Deus Ex. So Much

The first Deus Ex is one of my all time favorite games. I spent so much time doing every little side quest and finding every hidden room that I’d rather not think about it.

Human Revolution is the 3rd installment and the only prequel.

I don’t want to go into a full-on review of the story and whatnot, but i will mention a few notes.

-Stop complaining about the $50 price! big name games cost money – they aren’t $0.99 iPhone apps! If you want the big games to come to the Mac you need to deal with the fact they aren’t cheap.

-Very stable for me. Not a single crash so far (running 10.7.3).

-Very GPU/CPU intensive. I have the game set to its lowest settings and my 2010 MacBook Pro 15″ (i5 2.4 GHz, 8 GB RAM, SSD, 330M GPU) can -barely- handle it at a really low rez on my external 1900×12000 LCD.

-Gameplay is fun and tactical. Don’t buy this game if you want to charge in Quake-style and waste a room. Although technically you can if you want.

-The game is a pretty large download at almost 17 gigs. Took around 4 hours for me.

-No quick save button! It’s annoying having to go into the menus and hit save all the time.

-The game has a good soundtrack (which is included in 256 Kbit AAC format) with some cool remixes of songs from the original game.

I’d go one…but I want to resume playing.

great performance

once again, feral amazes. Everything works perfectly, the trackpad is responsive and feels natural both in menu screens and combat. Everything is silky smooth. Not even any screen tearing. Great performance on normal settings. Beware though, it’s a long download, it took me about 40 hours (with two tries), first try failed for some reason right before it completed….I recommend a hardwired connection..

my specs: late 2011 mbp 15″ 2.2 ghz quad core with 8 GB of ram and radeon hd 6750m with 512mb of vram.

• Bethesda announced recently that they are going to release an MMO game called Elder Scrolls Online and guess what? It will be available for the Mac!!
• Indie game, Bastion, heads to the Mac App Store and gets SteamPlay support. Great game with dynamic narration!
• EA, in another brilliant move *insert sarcasm*, sends out a message saying they are killing off Rock Band for the iOS only to back track and say it was an error. You decide if that’s true or not.
• Square Enix is teasing fans with a teaser page about a new game they have coming to the iOS and Android platform.
• Some of your may have known that Super Meat Boy was coming to iOS, but this version will be a bit more forgiving focusing on reflexes not so much reflexes AND memorization.
• Among the first of the Free-to-play games on the iOS, Eliminate is now being retired May 25th so if you spent some real money in that game then you might want to get your dollar’s worth before the end of the month!
• It took them a bit of time but Macworld has a review on Bioshock 2 for you.

Apple News

• Your local Wal-mart or Target may soon see a mini-Apple store inside. A store within a store!
• Apple’s iOS chief, Scott Forstall, sells off 61,151 shares of his Apple stocks which pays out about $38.7 million.
• A strange day for the Apple store in Sydney, Australia as a flash mob orchestrated by RIM protests in a guerrilla marketing effort.
• Experts believe that Apple’s next step won’t be a TV but to offer wireless service or some sort of mobile payment system dubbed iPay.
• The iPhone in China is just getting started as sales could potentially reach 35 million in 2013.
• With OS X Mountain Lion on its third developer preview, Apple is nudging software developers to make their apps Gatekeeper ready.
• After buying out Chomp, an application discovery engine, last February, Apple has now dropped all support for the Android platform for this app.
• Something may be a bit off about this but apparently Apple’s tax rate might be 9.8%.
