Quicksave: Neverwinter Nights 2 is Only $0.99 on the Mac App Store

Tis the week of Mac gaming deals. Neverwinter Nights 2 for the Mac is now on sale for a Weave shattering $0.99 on the Mac App Store! You’d have to be chaotically foolish to pass up this deal. Mold your destiny however you see fit and choose to save or conquer the lands of Neverwinter from the Shadow Reaver armies under the control of the King of Shadows.

Also, if you want a bit more bang for your buck, The GameAgent Store is offering the game for FREE with the purchase  of ANY Aspyr Media game (excluding DLC purchases) which is definitely worth considering. So if you were already thinking about grabbing a game from GameAgent, we’re giving you more game for your buck! The promos are set to expire end of day on Wednesday, March 28, but Aspyr only has a limited amount of serial keys, so better to act now than later!

    I bought the game when you had the $4.99 promotion. Overall, I like it (and it was certainly worth the money, which means that right now it’s really a steal), but the bugs mentioned in the support section of Aspyr’s are really annoying: random disconnects during multiplayer and occasional graphics glitches (I have a mid-2010 MBP 2.4 GHz with 4GB RAM and an NVidia 320m that uses 256MB shared memory). Interestingly, my friend with the PC version has even worse problems with graphical corruption, so it seems like it’s a cross-platform bug. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that at one point or another http://drmccoy.de/gobsmacked/?p=484 will get to a point that allows us to enjoy the game without all the bugs.

    For people interested in the expansions: while obviously not supported by Aspyr, you can use the expansions from a PC version with the Mac version. See http://bbellina.blogspot.com/2011/11/getting-nwn2-expansions-working-on-mac.html for installation instructions. You’ll still need a PC (or Parallels/VMWare/Bootcamp, or Wine/CrossOver) to install them before you can copy the files over though. I got the complete NWN1 and NWN2 with all expansions for PC a while ago via a promotion on gamersgate.com for €11.86. Regularly checking there or on Steam should allow you to get a similar deal at some point in the future.

    Any idea why NWN 2 is no longer available through Aspyr? NWN is one of the greatest RPG series of my early gaming days. I would love to have another crack at this game.

      Unfortunately Aspyr’s publishing and distribution rights to NWN2 expired in April 2012.
