Good news, everyone!  Aspyr has brought the RPG classic NeverWinter Nights 2 to the Mac App Store and has cut the price, too!

Originally retailing for $50, the now-$20 title gives players tons of freedom to decide on how they want to play.  Will your character be hulking, fearless melee fighter, or will you strike from afar with the power of the elements as an arcane wizard?  Will you be a good and honorable hero, or will your lust for power guide your actions?  There are tons of choices to make and endless replay value.  Check it out today!

NeverWinter Nights 2

Build a character that suits your style of play – good or evil, chaotic or lawful, with any number of skills, feats and professions available at the click of a button. Whether lobbing fireballs and researching forgotten spells as a powerful Wizard, hacking a trail through legions of Orcs as a Fighter armed only with a battle axe and your courage, or taking on the role of a Rogue that can slip into the shadows at a moment’s notice, the choice is yours. Choose your alignment, your allies, your companions, and how you want your character to develop… design the character you want, role-play the way you want, and carry the battle to the enemy.

That’s good news! Any chance you’ll be bringing the expansions to Mac users? I know it’s a long shot, but what are the chances of Aspyr porting Atari’s Neverwinter Nights Complete to Mac users? It would be great to see the NWN 2 expansions as well as updated versions of the original NWN. Not sure what the complications would be with that, since another developer worked on NWN originally.

Unfortunately, there are no plans for any of the expansion packs at this point. Maybe some time in the future? Best not to get any hopes up, though.

Any chance that those of us with the DVD copy being able to convert to an App Store copy.  I’d love to play on my new Mac Mini but being sans optical drive makes it a no go.

Sorry, Dilbret, there’s no program in place to enable a DVD-to-digital download. The good news, however, is that Aspyr is planning on offering discounts on Mac App titles leading up to the Christmas holiday.

will this run on imac with geforce 9400 NVIDA graphics and 2.66 Intel Core 2 Duo

If you have any questions about how the game will run on your machine, I would recommend contacting Aspyr support. Send them an email (support@aspyr.com) with your system specs and the game you want to play, and they’ll get back to you and let you know how or if the game will run.

Worked for me – everything runs fine on my 2.66 gHz iMac with NVIDIA 9400.

I also want to say that I’d pay for expansion packs from the App store

+1 on the expansion packs. I’d pay for ‘em – looks like there isn’t too much code to port either, mostly repackaging the data?

Say, why is this game off the App Store?

    • http://blog.gameagent.com/ Russ Looney

Unfortunately, Aspyr’s publishing and distribution rights for the game have expired, so we can no longer sell the game at places like the Mac App Store.

An example of the flaws of America’s copyright laws at their finest. Oh yeah, and the same reason why the NWN premium modules are no longer available…
