It’s been a frustrating couple of weeks for Mac gamers looking to play cross-platform multiplayer. Both Borderlands 2 and Civilization V on Steam went out of sync with their PC counterparts near the release of major content updates, and Aspyr has been able to provide little info on when either of these titles would catch back up. The good news: they understand the frustration and believe they’ll have both products in-sync within the coming weeks. Here’s an official statement:
Please note that Aspyr is required to get partner approvals on all releases and patches. At this time we’re waiting on approval for patches to both Borderlands 2 and Civilization V and are unable to accurately predict when we’ll receive it. We understand your frustration and are doing everything we can to regain and maintain in-sync status on these popular titles. We’ll share additional updates as soon as we have them. In the meantime, we sincerely thank you for your patience and apologize for the inconvenience. We’re Mac gamers, too, and can’t wait to take on the Handsome Sorcerer from Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep with our PC friends!
We’ll also be sure to share any new updates with our GameAgent audience as soon as it becomes available!
Update: That was fast–Civilization V Mac on Steam has received the latest update and is now back in sync with the PC! The update should be propagating now and will automatically download and install the next time users launch the Steam client. One down, one to go!
Update 2: The latest Borderlands 2 patch is now live on the Mac! Cross-platform multiplayer is available once again.
