    I think whats going to happen to the hardcore gaming industry is it will become a niche market… with the price for games increased to match. Fewer games will be released, but they will have high production values, sold in collector packaging. Essentially even games like Call of Duty will be following the Working Designs model for publishing. However like Japan, innovation will drop… as the target audience will age.

    Then there will be mainstream gaming via cellphone, facebook (or its successor).

    And furthermore web browser based games with subscription plans will also increase.
